Meta has quietly rolled out Style Sketch, an AIโ€‘powered fashion app that helps users create outfits from clothes they already own. The app, which links to Instagram to pull photos of a userโ€™s wardrobe, also lets users add items by snapping a picture, recording a short video, or uploading images from their camera roll. Once the virtual closet is built, the app suggests combinations and lets users try them on a realistic model that matches their body shape and skin tone. It is currently available on iOS and Android in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

The launch comes as AI tools for personal styling become increasingly common. Startโ€‘ups such as Alta and even Google Photos already let users digitise their closets and generate outfit ideas. Metaโ€™s entry leans on its massive Instagram user base, where many people already share photos of what they wear. By tapping that existing visual record, Meta hopes to offer a smoother, more integrated experience than standโ€‘alone wardrobe apps.

Style Sketch offers several practical features. Users can pick a specific piece and receive fresh outfit ideas built around it, rather than random suggestions. The app can also plan dayโ€‘byโ€‘day outfits for trips, taking the destination, length of stay, planned activities, and local weather into account. The description notes that the virtual model reflects the userโ€™s skin tone, aiming for a realistic preview of how the clothing will look.

Meta has not confirmed whether the service will expand beyond the three Southeast Asian markets. The company has been busy launching a suite of AI apps, including a Tamagotchiโ€‘style virtual pet called Waddle World, a gameโ€‘coding tool named Pocket, and a video generator called Vibes. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has urged employees to ship more apps, citing AIโ€‘driven efficiencies. If Style Sketch proves popular, it could become a flagship example of Metaโ€™s broader push to embed AI across its consumer offerings.
