Constellation Energy and Cameco Corporation are emerging as top stocks in the nuclear power sector, driven by a resurgence in nuclear energy demand, particularly in the United States. This trend has gained momentum as data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies require stable and consistent energy sources. As of now, Constellation is advancing its plans to restart the Crane Clean Energy Center, while Cameco benefits from the U.S. ban on Russian uranium imports.

The current interest in nuclear energy is part of a broader global movement to increase capacity amid rising energy needs. Over a dozen countries have pledged to triple their nuclear power output by 2050. This commitment comes at a time when the supply of nuclear energy is lagging behind the demand curve, creating significant investment opportunities. The demand for uninterrupted, carbon-free power is particularly acute among tech giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Alphabet, all of which are building AI-driven data centers.

Constellation stands out as a major player in this landscape. It operates the largest fleet of nuclear reactors in the U.S., generating over 180 terawatt hours (TWh) of nuclear energy annually. The company recently secured crucial approvals from regulatory bodies to restart the Crane facility and has entered into significant long-term power purchase agreements, including a landmark 20-year deal with Microsoft. In its latest financial report, Constellation posted $7.5 billion in revenue for the second quarter, a 22.9% increase from the previous year, with adjusted earnings per share rising 33.5%.

As the nuclear renaissance unfolds, both Constellation and Cameco are well-positioned for growth. Investors are increasingly looking to capitalize on the transition to cleaner energy sources, and these companies are at the forefront of that evolution. With their strong financial performance and strategic partnerships, they represent solid long-term investments in an energy market that is rapidly evolving.
