YouTube’s latest updates are giving its video player another small UI makeover , but there’s more happening than just changing more how you scrub through videos. According to Google support, we’re also getting a fix for an annoying iPad bug that was making comments, titles, descriptions, and other video details disappear after exiting full screen.

As we had previously reported , the issue left a blank void beneath the video player whenever affected users returned from full-screen playback. The missing interface elements wouldn’t come back even after switching videos, restarting the iPad, or reinstalling the app.

Google has now confirmed that the problem has been fixed. In an update to the support thread, the company thanked users for reporting the issue and said it had been fixed, directing affected viewers to download the latest YouTube app update.

The latest update is now available for iPad users as version 21.33.6. Google doesn’t explicitly say this release is the one carrying the fix, but the instruction to install the latest version strongly suggests this is the update affected users need. This update also tweaks the seek UI on Android, where double-tapping either side of a video to forward or rewind now brings up the scrub bar along with the skipped time. The change is appearing on stable version 21.33, making it more than a bug fix.

For anyone who ran into the disappearing-interface problem, the new update should eliminate the need for the awkward workaround that involved rotating the iPad between portrait and landscape while in full screen. If you haven’t updated YouTube yet, head to the App Store and install the latest version. Your video titles, descriptions, channel information, and comments should now remain where they belong after you exit full-screen playback.

Google is still asking users to report any lingering problems in the support thread.
