Earlier this month, Lenovo published a list of Motorola phones confirmed to receive the Android 17 update . While the update included plenty of phones across Motorolaโs expansive device portfolio, it also excluded several prominent, relatively recent models that should have made the cut for Android 17 .
When Lenovo published the Android 17 eligibility list, users on Reddit and in the comments section of our article mentioned that the following phones were missing:
Curiously, Motorolaโs official Android 17 eligibility list mentions โMotorola Edge 60โ twice, so one of the entries could potentially have been for the Motorola Edge 50 instead. The official list also lists the Edge 70 Neo and Edge 70 Plus as eligible for Android 17, but these phones havenโt even been launched yet.
The omissions and inconsistencies raise many questions, particularly because Motorola has a track record of poor software update promises and even backtracking on its word.
We have reached out to Motorola to ask whether these missing models are still in line to receive Android 17 or if their software lifecycles have officially reached the end of the road. We will update this article as soon as we receive a response and learn more.
