Ugreen has launched a new lineup of smart home products featuring local AI capabilities at a launch event on Thursday in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Central to this lineup are the HomeAgent and MasterAgent hubs, designed to provide smart home functionalities without sending user data to the cloud. This move marks Ugreen's entry into the local AI market, a departure from its traditional focus on fast chargers, USB cables, and network attached storage devices.

The HomeAgent comes in two versions: the basic HA100 and the more advanced HA100 Pro. The HA100 offers essential features like rule-based automation and object recognition, while the HA100 Pro enhances these capabilities with improved motion understanding and natural language processing for automation commands. The HA100 is priced at $1,799, with an early bird price of $899. The HA100 Pro retails for $5,999, or $2,999 during the early bird promotion. Both models run on different ARM architectures, with the HA100 achieving 26 TOPS of AI performance, while the Pro model doubles that to 205 TOPS.

For users seeking even higher performance, Ugreen introduced the MasterAgent MA100, which runs on Nvidia's Jetson Thor platform. This premium hub boasts 128GB of memory and can deliver up to 2,070 TOPS of AI performance. However, the price tag is steep, retailing at $20,000, although early bird pricing offers a 50% discount. Despite the high costs of these devices, Ugreen argues that the long-term savings from avoiding cloud storage and inference fees could make the investment worthwhile.

The new hubs will work seamlessly with ONVIF and Matter-compatible devices, enhancing their integration into existing smart home ecosystems. While Ugreenโ€™s emphasis on privacy and local data processing is notable, the premium pricing raises questions about the accessibility of such technology. As the market for smart home products continues to grow, Ugreen's approach may appeal to privacy-conscious consumers willing to invest in advanced local AI solutions.
