Rep. Tom Tiffany avoided questions Friday on whether he will receive President Trump’s help on the campaign trail in his bid to become Wisconsin’s governor. The Republican nominee was asked on Newsmax’s “Wake‑Up America” host Sharla McBride whether he expected Trump to join him in rallies or campaign events, a tactic the former president has used for other GOP candidates. Tiffany said nothing and deflected to his own campaign strategy.

The question matters because Trump still commands a large share of the Republican base in Wisconsin. In the 2020 presidential election, Trump carried the state by 4 percentage points, and his endorsement has helped candidates win primaries in other states. Wisconsin is a swing state that could decide the 2024 election, so any Trump support could give Tiffany a boost against the Democratic nominee and against the incumbent governor, who is also a Democrat.

Tiffany’s campaign has highlighted his record as a U.S. representative and his focus on economic growth, but he has not yet committed to any high‑profile endorsements. In a recent press release, the campaign said it would rely on “strong grassroots organizing” rather than celebrity backing. Trump’s team has been tight‑lipped about future appearances, and his aides have said that any decision will be made in the weeks before the primary. Some Republican analysts note that a Trump appearance could split the conservative vote, while others say it would shore up support among Trump loyalists who are still skeptical of the current governor.

The next few weeks will be critical. Wisconsin’s primary is set for April 23, and both candidates are ramping up advertising and town‑hall meetings. If Trump chooses to campaign for Tiffany, it could shift the dynamics of the race and signal that the former president remains a key player in GOP politics. If he does not, Tiffany will need to double down on his own messaging to keep the momentum. The outcome will likely influence how the state’s voters line up for the general election later this year.
