Xiaomi launches Pad 9 Pro Max tablet with 3.4K monitor feature

Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship Android tablet, the Pad 9 Pro Max, on 18 September 2026 in China as part of the industry‑wide “Pro Max” launch wave that also saw the company release its 18 Fold. The new device is powered by the XRing O3 processor, can run up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, and features a 13.3‑inch panel that supports 3 408 × 2 272 pixels at 144 Hz and 1 000 nits peak brightness. A USB‑C port with DP‑in lets the tablet act as a 3.4K‑120Hz secondary display, making it a convenient gaming screen for consoles like the Nintendo Switch.

The move follows a trend of “Pro Max” branding that has swept the market this month, with several manufacturers announcing high‑end devices. Xiaomi’s new chip delivers a claimed 54 % lift in multi‑core performance and an 85 % boost in GPU speed compared to the older XRing O1, while cutting power use by up to 64 %. Running on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4, the tablet offers split‑screen multitasking with up to six apps simultaneously, a revamped file manager, and a “PC‑like” browsing experience.

Camera and audio hardware are equally impressive. A 50‑MP rear sensor records 4K video at 60 fps, and a 32‑MP front camera supports high‑resolution selfies. The unit houses eight speakers with Dolby Atmos and six microphones that capture 360‑degree audio. A 12 000‑mAh battery supports 120 W fast charging, and the tablet remains slim at 5.67 mm and light at 645 g. It comes in Rich Burgundy, Silver, and Black, with a matching matte‑glass keyboard, pressure‑sensitive touchpad, and the Focus Stylus Pro.

Pricing starts at 4 799 CNY (about $715) for an 8 GB/256 GB model, while a matte‑glass version with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB storage begins at 6 899 CNY (≈ $1 030). The Pad 9 Pro Max is currently only available in China and is unlikely to hit U.S. shelves, limiting its reach to domestic consumers and early adopters in the region.
