This year alone, weโ€™ve spotted explosion incidents involving the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus , Galaxy S25 FE , and Galaxy S24 . Now, a man in Greater Noida, India, has sustained burn injuries after his Samsung smartphone allegedly exploded inside his pocket. Itโ€™s not immediately clear which Samsung phone this is, but from the looks of it, it could possibly be a Galaxy S26.

According to a report by the Free Press Journal , the incident occurred while the victim was carrying the phone in his trouser pocket. The device reportedly burst into flames without warning, causing burn injuries to his hands and lower body as he attempted to discard the burning handset. The phone was allegedly purchased just a month ago and was functioning normally until the incident.

Photos shared on X by GreaterNoidaW and Siraj Noorani show the charred remains of the Galaxy smartphone, with videos showing the alleged victim receiving medical attention. We can see in the photos that the handset suffered catastrophic thermal damage, leaving the battery compartment completely incinerated and the back panel halfway melted.

The incident report does not mention which Samsung Galaxy smartphone it is. Judging from the camera layout visible in the images, the phone resembles a Galaxy S26, though the extent of the damage makes it difficult to say so conclusively.

Smartphone battery explosions are almost always traced back to thermal runaway in lithium-ion cells, which can be triggered by internal short circuits, external physical force, extreme heat, or the use of faulty third-party charging accessories. When such cases occur, manufacturers typically collect the damaged hardware for investigation and forensic analysis to determine the cause of the failure. The exact reason for this phoneโ€™s explosion has not yet been established or shared.

Weโ€™ve reached out to Samsung India for a statement regarding the incident. Weโ€™ll update this article when we learn more.

Despite this being the fourth incident this year concerning Galaxy S flagships, it still appears to be an isolated case. The number of reports remains very low for a phone lineup that has sold in many millions worldwide. As such, Galaxy phone users need not panic.
