Overnight Russian attacks have killed six people in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia and struck a children's hospital in Kyiv. Local officials reported these incidents occurred early Tuesday as part of a broader Russian offensive to overwhelm Ukraine's air defenses amid a shortage of Patriot interceptors.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the military administration in Zaporizhzhia, described the assault as “massive,” involving long-range missiles and aerial bombs. He reported that at least 19 individuals sustained injuries, and images from the scene showed extensive damage to buildings and vehicles. The attacks also resulted in power outages across the region, further complicating the humanitarian situation.

In addition to the strikes in Zaporizhzhia, a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv caused damage to infrastructure, injuring one person. The attack targeted a children's hospital in the Shevchenkivskyi district and ignited a fire at a nearby warehouse. In the southern city of Mykolaiv, a Russian drone strike injured a 75-year-old woman, according to local military authorities. Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed the attacks aimed at disrupting Ukraine's defense industry and logistics.

The escalation of missile strikes marks a significant shift in Russia’s approach, reflecting a response to Ukraine's increasing capability to strike deep within Russian territory. Meanwhile, in Russia's Voronezh region, a Ukrainian drone attack resulted in one death and two injuries, as falling debris sparked warehouse fires. Russian officials reported that air defense units intercepted numerous drones, but the ongoing conflict continues to escalate with devastating impacts on both sides.
