Rivian delivered 19,248 vehicles in Q3, beating estimates by 1,248 units and marking a 46% year-over-year increase. This performance validates its 2026 guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 deliveries, drivenโ€ฆ

Rivian Automotive announced on Friday that it delivered 19,248 vehicles in the Julyโ€‘September quarter, a 46โ€ฏ% jump from 13,201 units a year earlier. The figure beat the 18,000โ€‘unit estimate that Wall Street analysts had built into FactSetโ€™s consensus. With the surprise, the company reaffirmed its 2026 delivery guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles, a target it had nudged up earlier in the year. Rivian said it would need a 20.5โ€ฏ% increase in deliveries in the fourth quarter, to 23,193 units, to stay on track for the 2026 goal.

The growth comes as Rivian ramps up production of its new entryโ€‘level R2 SUV, launched earlier this year as a smaller, cheaper sibling to the flagship R1. The R2 has drawn interest from buyers looking for a more affordable electric truck, and the company is expanding its manufacturing footprint to meet demand. Rivianโ€™s CEO said the company is โ€œbuilding the capacity to deliver on the rising demand for electric vehicles.โ€ The boost in Q3 deliveries signals that the rampโ€‘up is working, and it gives investors confidence that the company can scale production faster than its rivals.

By confirming the 2026 guidance, Rivian signals that it expects a steady rise in sales as the R2 and R1 continue to gain traction. The company will need to keep its production lines running at higher output and manage supplyโ€‘chain constraints. Analysts note that a 20.5โ€ฏ% jump in Q4 deliveries is aggressive but achievable if the R2โ€™s production schedule stays on track. Rivianโ€™s performance will be closely watched as the EV market heats up, and its ability to deliver on the 2026 target could influence investor sentiment and the broader shift toward electric trucks.
