Meta enhances Muse AI with email and video chat features

Meta announced on Thursday that its Muse AI agent will soon have its own email address and will be able to video chat with users. The updates roll out across the company’s internal tools and will be available to developers first, with a public release slated for late next month. Muse, the AI companion that can draft emails, schedule meetings and answer questions, now can send and receive messages directly from its own inbox and can join video calls in the same way a human colleague would.

The move comes as Meta pushes AI into everyday work and social life, following a wave of competitors that have released more capable digital assistants. Google’s Gemini, Apple’s Siri updates, and Amazon’s Alexa with ChatGPT integration have all shown that people expect AI to handle routine tasks and communicate in natural ways. By giving Muse a personal email and a video presence, Meta is turning the bot from a background helper into a front‑line collaborator that can manage email threads, coordinate calendars, and even hold meetings. The company says the new features are built on its LLaMA‑powered models, which already power other Meta products, and are designed to respect privacy and user control.

Users who have tested the beta report that Muse can now reply to emails in a style that matches the sender’s tone, set reminders, and even propose meeting times that fit everyone’s schedule. When the video‑chat feature launches, the agent will appear in a small window during a Zoom or Meta’s own meeting platform, answering questions or summarising discussion points. Tech analysts note that the ability to have an AI “presenter” could reduce administrative load, but they also caution that the technology may blur lines between human and machine communication.
