Lazio have reignited their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Fabio Miretti, formally enquiring about his availability. The Bianconeri have been told the Serie A side are keen on a loan deal to bolster their attacking midfield options under new boss Gennaro Gattuso. Miretti, 22, has made just 11 appearances for Juve this season, largely due to injuries and stiff competition for spots in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.

The move comes as Lazio struggle to replace Sergej Milinković-Savić, who left for Al-Hilal in the summer. Gattuso has identified a need for a creative playmaker to link defence and attack, and sees Miretti—a technically gifted graduate of Juventus’ youth system—as a potential solution. Lazio’s interest follows their failed attempts to sign players like Emiliano Buendía and Carlos Soler in recent transfer windows, forcing them to look at cheaper alternatives.

Miretti’s future at Juventus has been uncertain since Allegri’s return. The midfielder, who made his senior debut in 2021, has struggled to break into the first team amid the club’s financial constraints and high-profile signings like Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot. A loan to Lazio could give him regular minutes while allowing Juve to trim their wage bill. Lazio, meanwhile, are under pressure to improve after finishing seventh last season, missing out on European football.

If the deal progresses, Miretti would join Lazio on a season-long loan with an option to buy. Gattuso will hope he can rediscover his form and provide the creativity Lazio’s attack has lacked. For Juve, it’s a chance to free up a squad player without a long-term future. The move could be finalised before the January transfer window closes, giving Miretti a lifeline—and Lazio a potential new star.
