Apple is set to unveil the iPhoneโ€ฏ20โ€ฏPro next year, and a new leak from 9to5Mac confirms the company is moving toward an allโ€‘glass design for the device. The report, posted on Monday, says the new model will be released in September 2025 to mark the iPhoneโ€™s 20th anniversary. The leak shows a sleek, frameless body made entirely of glass, a bold step beyond the glassโ€‘back design first introduced with the iPhoneโ€ฏ13โ€ฏPro.

The shift to an allโ€‘glass chassis matters because it signals Appleโ€™s push for a premium, minimalist aesthetic that rivals the glassโ€‘back iPhones and the glassโ€‘display Samsung Galaxy S series. Apple has been testing new glass alloys that are lighter and tougher than the standard Gorilla Glass used on current models. The companyโ€™s focus on sustainability also plays a role; the new glass is reportedly made from recycled materials, a move that could reduce the environmental footprint of each phone. Industry analysts say the design could help Apple differentiate itself in a market where most smartphones still use metal or plastic frames, and it could also improve repairability by simplifying the internal layout.

The leak includes a sketch of the rear camera module, which appears to be integrated into a single, seamless glass panel. The camera bump is reduced to a thin ridge, and the new glass is said to be 15โ€ฏ% thicker than the previous generation, potentially offering better drop resistance. The report estimates that the allโ€‘glass design could add about 1.2โ€ฏg to the phoneโ€™s weight but would keep the overall cost close to the current iPhoneโ€ฏ14โ€ฏPro, which starts at $999. Appleโ€™s engineers are reportedly working on a new manufacturing process that allows the glass to be etched with microโ€‘channels for internal wiring, a technique that could improve signal strength and battery efficiency.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhoneโ€ฏ20โ€ฏPro at its annual September event, where the company will likely reveal pricing, specs, and a launch date. Supplyโ€‘chain analysts predict that the new glass will require new suppliers and production lines, which could delay the rollout of the phoneโ€™s components. If the allโ€‘glass design proves successful, it could set a new industry standard for premium smartphones and push competitors to adopt similar materials. The move also aligns with Appleโ€™s broader strategy to showcase technological innovation while addressing consumer demand for environmentally conscious products.
