Here’s what the Googlebook ‘Desktop Camera’ UI will look like

Google announced the new Googlebook platform at I/O 2026, and we’ve already seen several leaks over the last couple of months, including that of a Play Store listing for a “ Desktop Camera ” app that will likely be the camera app for upcoming Googlebook devices. Back when it was first spotted, the listing was fairly bare-bones, but Google has now updated it with new screenshots and a list of features the app will support.

Perhaps most noticeable is the new icon, which follows Google’s gradient design we’ve recently seen in several Google apps. Previously, the listing displayed an icon identical to that of the Pixel Camera app.

The updated listing also includes four new screenshots showing the Desktop Camera app in action. The UI remains pretty much the same as the Pixel Camera app, with the shutter button, gallery button, and mode-switching options on the right edge of the screen. Additional settings will be accessible via a button in the bottom-left corner of the screen. These will presumably include options for photo timers, video settings, and more.

Google has also updated the listing with four key features of the Desktop Camera app. It’s built for large-screen devices, including tablets, laptops, and desktops. The app will support external webcams, document scanning with machine learning-powered auto-cropping and enhancement features, and QR code scanning.

The first Googlebook devices are expected to launch this fall, and we’ve already seen design and spec leaks for devices from the likes of Lenovo , Acer , and ASUS .
