A new drama series is in the works about Christian Rรธrmose Madsen, a Danish outlaw who became an American frontier legend. Produced by Lunderskov Magic (Denmark), CMG Productions (UK), and producers Nicole Finnan and Allan Sperling, *Gunsmoke & Mirrors* will explore Madsenโ€™s transformation from a wanted criminal to a war hero and lawman in the late 19th century.

Madsenโ€™s real-life story reads like a pulp novel. Born in Denmark in 1851, he fled to America after a botched robbery, only to reinvent himself as a deputy marshal in Oklahomaโ€™s infamous โ€œHanging Judgeโ€ Isaac Parkerโ€™s court. His sharpshooting skills and survival instincts turned him into a frontier icon, later inspiring dime novels and wild-west folklore. The series aims to blend historical fact with dramatic license, tracing his journey from fugitive to folk heroโ€”a narrative that resonates today amid renewed interest in immigrant-driven American mythmaking.

The project lands as streaming platforms hunt for fresh historical dramas with global appeal. CMG Productions, known for *Peaky Blinders*, will co-produce, while Lunderskov Magic brings Scandinavian production muscle. Early reports suggest a blend of gritty realism and mythic storytelling, with Madsenโ€™s Danish roots and American exploits offering rich material for character development. Finnan and Sperling, who previously worked on *The Last Kingdom*, will oversee the script.

If successful, *Gunsmoke & Mirrors* could join the wave of prestige westerns like *Yellowstone* and *1883*, but with a European twist. The series may also tap into modern debates about reinvention and redemption, themes that feel increasingly relevant. Filming is expected to begin in 2025, with high hopes for an international audience drawn to Madsenโ€™s extraordinary life.
