Google introduces Docs to Video feature for AI-generated video summaries

Google has launched a new feature for Google Vids that allows users to convert documents into video summaries. Announced today, the "Docs to Video" option can transform PDF files, Google Docs, and Word documents into polished videos. Users can select a document from Google Drive or upload one directly from their computers, making it easier to digest lengthy content.

This latest addition to Google Vids comes as part of the company's ongoing enhancements to the platform, which has already integrated video generation capabilities into Google Slides. The push to innovate in this space reflects the growing demand for multimedia tools that make information consumption more efficient and engaging. With many users overwhelmed by long documents, this feature aims to simplify how they review content, making it especially useful for lengthy meeting notes or training materials.

The new feature employs artificial intelligence to generate a video script from the uploaded document and includes narration. Users can edit the script and choose different voices for the narration. However, early users have reported glitches, with one individual noting that while the script was created, the video generation process encountered errors. Currently, "Docs to Video" is available for users with Google Business, Enterprise, and Education plans, as well as those with a Google AI Plus, Pro, or Ultra subscription.
