Samsung launches One UI 9 Watch beta for Galaxy Watch 7, Ultra in South Korea

Samsung has launched the One UI 9 Watch beta for its Galaxy Watch 7 and first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra. The update is currently being rolled out in South Korea, following the earlier beta release for the Galaxy Watch 8. This marks a significant step for users of these older models, who can now access new features and improvements.

The timing of this rollout aligns with Samsung's efforts to enhance user experience across its smartwatch lineup. The Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are the only models that come with One UI 9 Watch pre-installed, prompting Samsung to extend beta access to earlier versions. This strategy aims to maintain customer interest and satisfaction amid an increasingly competitive smartwatch market.

The One UI 9 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra has a file size of approximately 1.9GB and includes new firmware. Key updates feature an upgraded Samsung Health app that offers enhanced sleep insights and an improved user interface. Notably, users will find the addition of Vascular Load metrics in this beta, although this feature has been replaced with Blood Pressure Trend in the U.S. versions of the smartwatches.

While the update is currently limited to South Korea, it's expected to reach the U.S. soon. Galaxy Watch owners in the U.S. will be able to download the update through the Samsung Members app. The swift rollout of the One UI 9 Watch beta reflects Samsung's commitment to providing timely updates, as seen with the quick transition to a second beta for Galaxy Watch 8 users.
