Ford’s new AI assistant can check your fuel levels and tire pressure.

The feature, called Ford BlueCruise Hands-Free Assistant, starts rolling out this week through the Ford and Lincoln mobile apps. It uses artificial intelligence to answer questions about your vehicle in plain language. Ask it how much fuel you’ll need for a trip or whether your truck can tow a boat, and it pulls real-time data from your car’s sensors. The tech is part of Ford’s push to keep drivers connected without reaching for a manual or calling a dealership.

Why now? Ford is racing to match Tesla and other automakers that already offer AI-driven support in their apps. Owners expect the same instant answers they get from Siri or Alexa. The company also wants to cut down on service calls and dealership visits, saving customers time and itself money. The new assistant works in newer Ford and Lincoln models with connected infotainment systems, but the company plans to expand it to older vehicles through software updates.

The rollout begins this month in the U.S. and Canada for Ford BlueCruise-capable vehicles, including the F-150 and Mustang Mach-E. Early users can ask about fuel range, tire pressure, oil life, and towing capacity. Ford says the AI learns from common questions and will get smarter over time. The company hasn’t said if it will add remote commands like pre-heating the cabin or locking the doors, but similar features are already on the roadmap.

What’s next is a wider rollout to more Ford and Lincoln models by the end of the year. The company is also testing voice control so drivers can ask questions without touching their phone. In the long run, these tools could help Ford gather data on how people use their vehicles, which could shape future software updates and even new car features. For drivers, it means one less stop at the gas station if the AI spots a low tire before a long drive.
