Fenerbahce's Mason Greenwood, Matteo Guendouzi fined and banned after brawl

Fenerbahce players Mason Greenwood and Matteo Guendouzi have both been fined and suspended following a brawl after their Champions League playoff against Lyon. The incident occurred after Fenerbahce’s 2-1 victory in France last month, which secured their advancement in the tournament with a 3-2 aggregate score.

The altercation unfolded when Greenwood and Guendouzi, both former players for Lyon's rival Marseille, engaged in a confrontation with players and coaching staff from Lyon after the final whistle. UEFA announced that Guendouzi will be suspended for four matches across UEFA club competitions. This penalty includes two matches that are under a one-year probationary period. Guendouzi was fined 50,000 euros ($58,000) for several offenses, including making offensive gestures towards Lyon supporters and inciting the brawl. Greenwood, on the other hand, received a one-match suspended ban and a fine of 30,000 euros ($35,000) for breaching conduct rules.
