Iran warns US after deadly airstrike on Syrian wedding

Iran launched missile and drone strikes on Wednesday against U.S. allies in the Gulf, hours after Washington carried out airstrikes in Syria and Iraq that Tehran says killed five people at a wedding and injured dozens more. The strikes targeted sites in Iraq and Syria linked to Iran-backed militias, according to U.S. officials, but Iranian authorities described the attacks as “barbaric” and warned that American partners in the region would pay a price. The incident marks a sharp escalation in the shadow war between Iran and the U.S., which has simmered since Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel triggered a broader regional conflict.
