It has been about a week since Anthropic gave Claude the ability to send emails in Gmail and manage files in Google Drive. Now the AI company is rolling out another feature. This feature will make switching back and forth between Claude chat and Cowork a little easier.
Anthropic has announced that Claude Cowork now has memory, so you can spend less time re-explaining. Not only does Cowork have memory, but it also shares the same memory as chat. That means when you run a task in Cowork, Claude will remember it in chat, and vice versa.
As a result of this update, chat will now add topics to memory as you chat rather than summarizing conversations after they end. In the past, you had to tell Claude to โremember this.โ Anthropic says that youโll be able to pause or reset memory at any time.
All the memories you create will be kept in a list of files under Topics in the Memory settings. When you visit this page, youโll be able to read, edit, or delete any of the memories.
While memory is on by default, Anthropic says that sensitive information (e.g. health, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, politics, or gender identity) is not saved by default. Youโll have the option to turn on โinclude sensitive topics in memoryโ if you do want that information included. However, the company claims that identification numbers (SSN, government ID numbers, etc), criminal history, immigration status, or other information that violates its Acceptable Use Policy will never be saved.
Memory has been rolled out to users on Free, Pro, and Max plans. The feature is available on the web, desktop, and mobile. If itโs not available on mobile, Anthropic advises that you update your Android or iOS app to the latest version.
