Capital B, a Paris-based company building Bitcoin investment products, has raised €7.6 million (about $8.2 million) in a seed round led by Adam Back, the cryptographer and co-founder of Blockstream. The funding round, announced Tuesday, follows a €1.7 million raise just last month and marks another step in Europe’s growing Bitcoin investment infrastructure. Back’s participation signals strong confidence in the company’s strategy to bring institutional-grade Bitcoin exposure to mainstream investors.
The timing reflects broader momentum in Europe’s Bitcoin market. Regulators there have recently clarified rules for crypto asset managers, making it easier to launch regulated Bitcoin funds. Capital B is positioning itself as a bridge between traditional finance and Bitcoin, offering products that comply with EU regulations. The fresh capital will help the company expand its team, develop new investment tools, and potentially launch in other European markets. Last month’s smaller round already attracted investors like Financière Agartha and Kima Ventures.
Adam Back, known for his technical contributions to Bitcoin (he proposed Hashcash, a system that inspired Bitcoin’s proof-of-work), called Capital B “a promising player in making Bitcoin accessible to institutions.” The company’s leadership includes CEO Aimeric Duhil de Benaze, a former banker, and CTO Ludovic Lars, a fintech veteran. Capital B’s first product, a regulated Bitcoin fund, launched in France earlier this year. It allows professional investors to gain exposure without holding the asset directly. The €7.6 million round brings total funding to over €9 million, putting Capital B among Europe’s leading Bitcoin investment startups.
What happens next could reshape how European investors access Bitcoin. Capital B plans to use the funding to apply for regulatory approvals in Germany and Switzerland, two key markets for institutional investors. It’s also exploring new product offerings, including Bitcoin-based exchange-traded notes (ETNs), which could attract even more capital. The broader trend is clear: as Bitcoin gains acceptance among regulators and institutions, companies like Capital B are racing to build the infrastructure that will define the next phase of its growth. With Back’s backing and fresh capital, Capital B is well-positioned to lead that wave.
