Game Freak, the studio behind most mainline Pokรฉmon titles, recently released their first non-Pokรฉmon console game in seven years, titled "Beast Of Reincarnation." The game has received widespread criticism since its launch, with many reviewers labeling it one of the most forgettable games of 2026. Critics have pointed out a range of issues, including outdated graphics and a convoluted storyline, leaving fans disappointed.
The backdrop of "Beast Of Reincarnation" features a post-apocalyptic world where humanity's attempt to suppress emotions has led to their own downfall. However, the game's prologue fails to provide substantial depth, leaving players grappling with a complex narrative filled with flashbacks that complicate rather than enrich the experience. The game's protagonist, Emma, embarks on her quest accompanied by a lackluster cast of characters, including her sick sister and a mentor, all of whom contribute to the overall sense of emotional detachment.
Gameplay mechanics fall short of expectations as well. Players navigate through repetitive landscapes that include overgrown forests and dilapidated villages. The combat system, while featuring an intricate skill tree for customization, does little to evolve Emma's abilities as the game progresses. Boss battles often consist of larger versions of previously encountered foes, and the soundtrack plays the same track throughout all 13 missions, creating a monotonous experience that quickly loses its charm.
Despite Game Freak's pedigree in creating engaging monster battles, "Beast Of Reincarnation" does not deliver the innovative gameplay fans hoped for. The game draws inspiration from titles like "The Legend Of Zelda" and "The Last Of Us," but ultimately fails to combine these influences in a meaningful way. As a result, it risks being remembered not for its achievements but for its shortcomings in an already crowded gaming landscape.
