Apple has rolled out a new firmware update for its AirPodsโฏProโฏ3, adding support for iOSโฏ27 and fixing a handful of bugs that users reported after the latest iOS release. The update, versionโฏ3.0.1, is now available through the iOS Settings app under โBluetoothโ for any AirPodsโฏProโฏ3 that are paired with a device running iOSโฏ27 or later. According to 9to5Mac, the firmware can be downloaded automatically, or users can trigger it manually by putting the AirPods in the charging case, opening the lid, and tapping the โUpdateโ prompt that appears.
The update comes after a wave of complaints that AirPodsโฏProโฏ3 lost connectivity or stopped charging properly when the host phone was upgraded to iOSโฏ26. Appleโs engineering team has reportedly spent the last few weeks addressing those issues, and the new firmware is designed to keep the earbuds in sync with the latest OS changes. In addition to fixing the connectivity glitches, the release brings a number of refinements that are intended to improve everyday use.
Users will notice a smoother transparency mode that now adapts more quickly to changes in ambient noise, as well as a new โSpatial Audioโ option that offers a more natural 3โD listening experience on supported iPhones. Battery life has also been tweaked; the firmware introduces a more efficient powerโsaving mode that can extend talk time by up to five minutes on a single charge. Other fixes include a correction for the โcharging case stuck onโ bug, a patch that stops the AirPods from going into a lowโpower state when the case is left open, and a minor UI tweak that clarifies the battery level when the earbuds are in use.
With the firmware now in the wild, Apple is expected to keep the AirPodsโฏProโฏ3 line fully compatible with future iOS releases. The companyโs focus on seamless integration means that users who upgrade their phones can rely on the earbuds to stay current without needing a new pair of hardware. The update also signals that Apple is still investing in the AirPodsโฏProโฏ3 platform, even as newer models are announced.
